Packet Information

Introduction

Your computer sends information out in "packets." A packet is a parcel of information that contains your request to a website, potentially some personal information about you or some technical information about your computer, and the address of your computer (your IP address).

All packets go through GhostSurf while it is running. It will optionally remove personal information, and route the packet to an anonymous hub so your IP address will also be hidden from the website. You can see a list of all packets in the GhostBlock window. Double-clicking one will bring up the Packet information window shown above.

Information

The Packet information window gives you a synopsis of the packet in the "Packet information" box, and shows you the actual raw contents of the packet in the "Packet contents" box. You can see the contents of the packet as it came into GhostSurf ("What the browser tried to send") or as it left GhostSurf ("What was actually sent") using the appropriate buttons.
